Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Her family was in Barcelona and has been dubbed an "atypical popstar" due to her various musical styles. She was fascinated by Spanish folk music when she was only 13 years old. She studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. The album reinvented flamenco by combining it with pop music and hip-hop. The singles "Malamente", and "Pienso en tu Mira" were a hit among the Spanish public and received all-encompassing critical acclaim. El Mal Querer, who received the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year, and was included in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time was the catalyst for Rosalia's rise to the international music scene. [12][1313 Rosalia has explored the urbano genre with her albums of 2019 "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti x Tu x Mi", achieving global success. She gave reggaeton an innovative style on her third album Motomami (2022) which departed from the modern flamenco sound of the previous album. With the singles "La Fama," and "Saoko" and "Saoko," the album was a big success across the globe and was named the top-rated album of the year by Metacritic. Through her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten top-ten singles in her home country, which is the highest number for a local artist. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the Year nominations) and four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been awarded to Rosalia. Rosalia also won two Premio Ruido Awards. In 2019, Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award for "changing the sound of today's mainstream music with her innovative flamenco-influenced pop",[18and she was the first Spanish-singing act in the history of music to be recognized as the the Best New Artist award at the Grammy Awards. Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born in an ethnically diverse family and is the eldest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small business in the family that specialises in metalworking. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in 2019. [23] She has an older sibling, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) and works with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia discovered her love for the performing arts when she was a young girl in particular after she was introduced to the discography by Camaron de la Isla. She began her musical studies in Taller de Musics. She took an entire six-year study at the academy. She started in the Raval school and later transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. [25] She was also an individual singer, performing at weddings and musical bars.
