April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players who have earned medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time in Tokyo's Olympics is hoping to secure her third Olympic medal. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. It could be the last chance she'll ever have at age 39. Still confident, however. If we do our top or perform well, I think we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Also, it's a matter of chance. Ross was born in 1982, and grew up in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started competing in the sports of Newport Harbor High school. Ross played in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. Along with the indoor game, she also ran track and basketball as a pre-collegiate athlete. Though she excelled in indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her performance was above normal. During her high school career she played middle blocker outside setter and hitter at the tennis court, according to her bio at the college. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Players of the Year. In addition, she was awarded the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017. However, Ross's beach game was well-established long before this. It's true that she has been able to win multiple events, and one was won by the legendary player of volleyball. From 2007 until 2013, she was a team alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Along together with Kessy, Ross won an Olympic Title in 2009 when she competed on the international circuit. They were awarded a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor took home gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she retired. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics in 2016 along with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a player for the Trojans at USC during her the college years following her graduation from high school. It was a successful career for Ross in the university. She was an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000, a young freshman. Also, she was a key player for helping the Trojans to make it to it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she experienced a devastating personal setback but managed to repeat as an All-American. The last two years with the Trojans' program the team was led to success by winning two successive national titles. In 2003-2004, she was named the best collegiate female volleyball player in the US through the Honda Sports Award. Ross majored in international relations at USC. Margie Ross wasn't able to see her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer while she was in her sophomore year at USC. In the aftermath, Ross continues to be close to her deceased parent. Margie remains an inspiration on and off of the beach.
